ASME Pipeline Systems Division

International Pipeline Conference and Expo - Give Back Campaign

Mission:  ASME Pipeline System Division (PSD) strives to promote technological progress and international co-operation in the area of pipeline engineering.   With the aim of continuing to improve the safety and sustainability of our energy industry across the globe.    In alignment with this mission the ASME PSD annually supports the International Pipeline Conference (IPC) which is a global premier event where technical experts share industry advancements and learnings from around the world with the goal of enhancing / transferring knowledge to ensure safety and sustainability of energy transportation via pipelines.  

Opportunity:  The ASME PSD aims to give back proceeds from IPC to support initiatives aligned to the mission.  In 2026 PSD committed to giving back $50,000 USD to the industry.   Requests for funding support may include:

·         Grant funding for research and/ or technology development.

·         Development of professional courses to enhance technical knowledge of pipeliners across the pipeline industry.

·         Events that enable pipeliner collaboration, networking, tours and field trips;

·         Travel and registration for conferences, tutorials, courses and access to technical papers and

·         Advocacy regarding the value of pipelines to the economy and energy industry; promoting pipeline awareness and safety.

A total of 5 awards will be given out : 

1 Award -  $20,000 USD

2 Awards  -$10,000 USD

2 Awards  - $5,000 USD

Give Back Campaign Pitch Event:  The PSD committee will select the top 10-12 applicants by the end of May and send an email request for the submitter to pitch and justify their request for funding virtually or in person at the ASME PSD Pitch Event that will be held September 15th in Downtown Calgary (location TBC). 

Criteria:  Each submission will be fairly evaluated and considered by the PSD Evaluation Committee.  More points will be awarded for ideas that:

  • ·         benefit a large group of individuals vs a single person,
  • ·         encourage collaboration with international students/ engineers,
  • ·         deliver enhanced technical knowledge, and
  • ·         promote innovation and technology advancements.

 

Final Award Decision Approval:   Following the pitch event emails will be sent to those submissions that were approved. 

Year End Report:    The ASME PSD will send out a request for a virtual year-end presentation to learn how the funding supported the intended purpose.
